Red Fall Sunset

True Color. One of the best Oregon coast sunsets I ever saw. Yellow, orange, and then this deep red. It lasted forever, spreading over the beach into the coast range. Fall of 1999. 1999 - 2000 was a great sunset year. Amazing sunset after sunset that fall and winter. Was something in the air that year? Watch sunsets and dream positive futures.

Endless Orange Sunset

The endless orange late glows we get in the fall. This orange kept pulsing, glowing, lasting. And the full moon rose behind us casting headlight beams through old growth trees. Amazing.

Short Sands Sunset " The View "

I'll love this view my entire life. Always got to stop whether coming down from the trees or up from the beach. The sun sets on another great short sands day. Looks good in black mat too.

The last frame from " Sunset Surf ". I didn't surf to get these photos. Worth it. Beautiful color as the tide goes out. Last light with a star at upper right.

Incoming Storm at Haystack Rock

The spring storm quickly moved in swallowing the blue sky. Surreal for a few minutes as I watched from the cape. I underexposed one shot for dramatic dark effect. The blue hole closed and the rain / hail began.

Coast Lightning, Summer Thunder

Rare, but they do happen. August 2008. I watched flashes from the cabin. Decided to go out, alone, as companions couldn't be aroused from the sleepy couch. Middle of the night and light rain misted continuously. The storm stayed centered over Cascade Head, and bolts weren't touching the ground, so it seemed safe. Long pauses, then absolutely brilliant purple white flashes that lit up the beach like bright daylight for split seconds. Then total darkness under the thick clouds. Like giant flashbulbs, lighting up the beach for one second, then black. Crazy on my eyes. To my right, over the ocean, yellow, orange, and red thunder pulses glowed in the clouds. Incredible color! I should've had two cameras. The purple bolts were definitely first choice. Had to keep the camera level because of rain on the lens, so couldn't shoot all the sky. A whole roll of film, and this was the best capture. Just tricky conditions. I love the visible fog bank and waves. At Proposal Rock and Cascade Head.

Neskowin from the cliffs

Hiking the cliffs above Neskowin, before modern development. I still have no idea who's in those houses on the cliffs, but I stare at them from the beach all the time. Keep lights off as to not pollute the beach. Ancient stumps and Proposal Rock below.

Coastal Dreams

Dreamlike coastal days. The composition, the sky, the water, the silhouettes. Such a dreamy day to hike and wander and dream. The bird circling above. I envisioned this exact shot. One shot on a manual film camera, and I got it. Catch your dream, you can do it. Whatever you dream becomes your reality.

Winter Sea
